DESCRIPTION:NYSY Academy presents a BASI PIlates Therapy TT Course:\n“Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies”\nwith Samantha Wood\, MPT\, MBA – BASI Pilates TM Certified Pilates Instructor- Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher\n  \nThis 3-day certificate course presents a Physical Therapy approach to working with clients who have injuries\, physical limitations\, or movement dysfunctions. \nFocusing primarily on the cervical and lumbar spine\, shoulder\, hip\, knee\, ankle and foot\, the course covers functional anatomy\, biomechanics and a review of current literature. Specific injuries and pathologies\, such as disc disease\, post-surgical conditions\, rotator cuff syndrome\, tendinopathies and osteoarthritis\, are examined. \nStudents learn about precautions and/or contraindications for these conditions\, as well as exercise options and modifications to the original BASI Pilates repertoire. \nCourse participants learn safe ways to work with clients who suffer from some of the most commonly encountered pathologies and injuries\, via lectures\, discussions\, demonstrations and practice.\nTopics \n\nReview anatomy\, biomechanics\, and current literature related to the spine\n Learn precautions and/or contraindications for common spinal pathologies.\n Understand which exercises from the Pilates repertoire are appropriate for specific spinal injuries/pathologies.\n Learn modifcations to original exercises and/or new exercises appropriate for clients with spinal issues.\n\n  \nAbout Samantha Wood\, MPT\, MBA \nBASI Pilates TM Certified Pilates Instructor\nYoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher\nSamantha Wood is a licensed physical therapist since 1997\, PMA Certified Pilates Instructor\, Yoga Alliance certified teacher\, and an international educator and Associate Faculty member for BASI Pilates®. She has an MBA from USC and is the owner of The Cypress Center in Pacific Palisades\, CA where Pilates is integrated with physical therapy for people of all ages and abilities. Samantha’s clinical expertise includes Pilates-based rehabilitation\, yoga therapy\, orthopedics\, sports therapy\, and functional rehabilitation. She began her career in sports medicine as a student athletic trainer at USC. Since then\, she has worked with many celebrities and professional athletes. While at HealthSouth in Arizona\, she was the PT for the Phoenix Suns\, Phoenix Coyotes\, Phoenix Mercury\, and Arizona Rattlers.\nSamantha began her Pilates studies in 2001 with Rael Isacowitz and over the years since has attended many of Rael’s advanced courses\, including the prestigious Mentor and Master Programs. SUMMARY:BASI PILATES Mentor Program
DESCRIPTION:Teachers: MARIA SYLLA – ILARIA PULIDORI \nDates: November 29\, 2024 – December 1\, 2024\, 09:00-17:00 \nLocation : The event is hosted at “Serafio” City of Athens\,  19 Echelidon & 144 Pireos\, Athens Greece \nBASI Pilates Legacy Program – Mentor is for seasoned professionals who want to hone their teaching skills and study at the highest levels. \nThis 3-day course is the first phase of the Legacy Program\, Rael’s voyage of discovery to the extreme edges of the Pilates Method with the most accomplished of his colleagues and students. During this very personal experience\, Rael shares the skills and lessons he has learned over four decades at the peak of the profession. \nThis course includes 18 hours of instruction and learning and is approved by the NCPC for 18 CECs. \nDay One \nPrimary concepts covered include teaching methodology\, the art of cueing\, cueing as a process\, as well as a discussion on higher principles. New repertoire will be taught on the Mat\, Reformer\, Cadillac\, Wunda Chair\, and Step Barrel. \nDay Two \nConcepts covered include exercise progression and programming\, the Block System\, programming for different populations\, program progression\, and selecting the appropriate level for clients. New repertoire will be introduced on the Reformer\, Wunda Chair\, and Cadillac. \nDay Three \nConcepts covered are exercise analysis through movement\, muscle testing\, movement observation and analysis\, and advanced-level work as a goal. Implementation of these concepts will be discussed. More new repertoire will be introduced on the Reformer\, Wunda Chair\, Cadillac\, Step Barrel\, and Ladder Barrel. \nPrerequisites\nBASI Pilates Instructors: Two years of teaching experience following the completion of the Comprehensive Teacher Training Program. \nNon-BASI Pilates Instructors: Three years of teaching experience following the completion of a Comprehensive Teacher Training Program with another Pilates school.
