NYSY Studios & Anima Studio is proud to be offering Pilates Teacher Training and Certification programs through BASI Pilates™, a top Pilates Educational institution based in California and offering courses world-wide.
The underlying philosophy of the BASI educational program is a true synthesis of the physical, the emotional and the spiritual. Combining repertoire, process and athleticism into a structured process. BASI Pilates is a true blending of the Art and Science of human movement, relating specifically to the works of Joseph H. Pilates. BASI Pilates honors and preserves the legacy of Joseph and Clara Pilates: presenting the original principles and repertoire (utilizing all the Pilates equipment), at the same time integrating contemporary scientific developments and evolution of the method.
Our graduate Pilates teachers are recognized for their in-depth training and great Pilates performance. The training course, designed by master teacher Rael Isacowitz, is a rigorous, well-organized, and very inclusive program. Students who successfully complete the program have a great impetus for success in their Pilates teaching career.
Obtaining your certification through this program will mean that you are one of the best-qualified instructors not just in Greece, but anywhere around the world. Be prepared to work hard, learn a great amount, and enjoy the process. You will be asked to spend a lot of time in the Pilates studio, for all of the lecture hours, and also for self-practice, private or group Pilates classes, observation, and teaching assistance. After-all, you will get a lot if you put a lot into this program. We will ask you to dedicate yourself to this practice so you can see great results. We are proud of all our graduate students. We want to be proud of you one day.
The process of becoming a skilled teacher is highly individual and BASI encourages each individual to work at his or her own pace. The goal is to develop excellence in each and every person, irrespective of how long it takes. Students are allowed to repeat any element of the examination process to achieve the required BASI Pilates standard. Please keep in mind that fully dedicated students are able to complete the course in 6 months to a year. If you have a busy life, it may take you up to 2 years to finish. You will have our continuous support throughout the process.
What makes the BASI courses different?
The BASI Comprehensive Teachers Training course is the most rigorous in the business, and a student needs to pass all of it in order to be accredited as a teacher by BASI. There are no half-measures. As the term comprehensive implies, this course is NOT splintered into individual apparatus and many levels, as some programs are; it is about the whole. BASI believes that a teacher needs to be familiar with it all.
This also avoids confusion for members of the public, who often have to decide between teachers; one, say, who has graduated from level one Reformer and another who has completed a comprehensive Pilates course. They both present themselves as Pilates teachers and both have certificates of completion. But, in the eyes of BASI, there is no comparison.
A CTTC graduate has both the knowledge and the accreditation to teach students of all levels on all apparatus. We do not give partial accreditation for a partial education. It may sound severe, but it maintains the extremely high standard of our education and it avoids misinterpretation. There is never any question about what a BASI-trained teacher is, or is not, qualified to teach. There is also a financial dimension. With BASI you know what the cost of the course is right up front; there are no additional requirements or supplementary costs. Compare the cost of our one, comprehensive course with the cumulative costs of all the courses you have to take at other institutes to achieve a similar level of expertise. You’ll be amazed at how reasonable our price really is.
This program provides thorough, comprehensive education in Pilates covering the full range of Pilates equipment (Mat, Reformer, Cadillac/Trap Table, Wunda/Combo Chair, Ped-a-pul, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel/Spine Corrector and various other Auxiliary apparatus). It is a complete and intensive college-level program and provides a solid foundation for teaching. Prerequisites for the Teacher Training Courses:
Familiarity with the teachings of Joseph Pilates. It is highly recommended that students have familiarity and experience in Pilates (both Mat Work and on the apparatus for the Comprehensive course) before embarking on this course of study.
Study in basic anatomy and physiology. Although it is recommended that this be a college level course, it is also acceptable if it is part of another area of study such as a massage therapy, physical therapy or some other similar program.
Experience in a related form of physical activity. Over the years it has become apparent that experience in other physical activities is extremely beneficial. This allows the student to relate and compare the work to past movement experience.
Teaching experience is recommended. Teaching is a learned skill, an art and a natural talent. Any past teaching experience, even in an unrelated area will contribute to the process of becoming a teacher of the Pilates method.
